Nitika Kakkar is the Virtual Coordinator the Harm Reduction International Conference 2025 (HR25). Nitika is a Communications & Social Development Consultant with eight years of experience in programme management, media strategy and journalism. Her work has focused on leveraging Social and Behavioural Change Communication principles to approach gender and health issues in India.
Nitika has worked with grassroots organisations to create targeted online and offline communication campaigns and outreach strategies using hyperlocal media outlets. Her expertise lies in capacity building, research, and advocacy on Gender-Based Violence, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Communicating SDGs, and Media, News & Information Literacy.
Over the last five years, Nitika has successfully conceptualised, organised and managed five editions of The Radio Festival – one of the biggest radio events in India that brings together key players from all three tiers of radio broadcasting, as well as other domestic and international stakeholders invested in the audio space.
Before working in the social development sector, Nitika was a journalist with the Hindustan Times and The Indian Express. She reported on health, crime, gender, education, tourism, urban administration and development.
Nitika holds an Master’s degree in Convergent Journalism from Jamia Millia Islamia and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Delhi.
