Harm Reduction 2011: Harm Reduction International’s 22nd International Conference took place in Beirut, Lebanon from the 3rd to 7th April, with 800 delegates attending from 79 countries around the world, including many from the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, and Europe.

The Film Festival screens documentaries, advocacy films, training videos, and fictional work relevant to reducing drug and alcohol related harms. Films shown at the event have subsequently been used for advocacy purposes in many countries.
The MTV International Drugs and Harm Reduction Film Festival 2011 screens documentaries, advocacy films, training videos, and fictional work relevant to reducing drug and alcohol related harms. Films shown at the event have subsequently been used for advocacy purposes in many countries.
The response this year was unprecedented, with over 80 films submitted. Thirty-five films from regions as diverse as Latin America, Africa, Central Asia, the Middle East and Europe were selected for screening. This year Lebanese broadcaster MTV agreed to sponsor the event and a public programme was also screened prior to the conference, at the Metropolis Arts Cinema Empire Sofil in Beirut’s centre on Saturday April 2nd, and was also opened by TV personality Georges Kordahi.
The International Drugs and Harm Reduction Film Festival 2011 was opened by Miss Lebanon on Monday April 4th at the Habtoor hotel, the host venue of the International Harm Reduction Conference 2011.

2011 Film Festival Award Winner
This year’s film festival award was presented to Michel Negroponte (USA) for “I’m Dangerous with Love” Michel Negroponte (USA).
